After you’ve funded your Schwab Charitable™ account, you can recommend grants of $50 or more to any IRS-designated 501(c)(3) charity.
To recommend a grant online, just log in to your account or use the Schwab Mobile app.¹ You can then recommend a new grant recipient or use express granting for a charity you’ve previously designated, which streamlines the process and saves you time.
You may also recommend a grant by completing a Recommend a Grant to Charity form and returning it by fax or mail.
You can customize your donations with personalized grant letterhead—featuring the name of your account—or choose to remain anonymous.
To find charities that align with your giving goals, search GuideStar, a national database with more than 1 million organizations.
Even if a charity is not in the GuideStar database, you can still recommend a grant if the organization is a qualified public charity.
Simply enter the charity’s information in your grant recommendation and Schwab Charitable will research the charity's eligibility.
We have a number of ways to accommodate international giving. To make the process easier, more efficient, and less costly, we offer guidance from our International Granting Specialists.
Donor-advised fund accounts can facilitate almost all of your charitable giving, but there are some restrictions for events or memberships if you derive personal benefit from them.
