Sharing a passion (Milt and Judi)
[Milt] We try very much to give with our kids, to causes in the community that we all share a passion about.
We started many years ago at Christmas, giving them an allocated amount that they could direct to donate. So they've begun to give, with us and yet in their own right and experience the joys of philanthropy. And also, understand that there is a family obligation to give back.
We've just been in the process of revising our estate plans, so that we are going to leave any unspent balance to our son and daughter-in-law to administer. And we're going to leave our daughter and son-in-law a Schwab Charitable fund balance. So each couple will have a charitable advised fund to administer. So that they can continue to give both in their own names and in our memories.
[Judi] It really feels great to be able to continue the legacy of giving to our next generation.
[Milt] Any time friends of ours talk about philanthropy, I tell them that the Schwab Charitable Fund is high integrity, it works, it makes giving easy, it makes the portfolio decisions easy. There's just nothing not to like and much to commend it.
