A popular feature of a Schwab Charitable Account is the ability to invest contributions for potential growth that’s tax-free. Investing means clients may have even more to grant to charities.
If clients have professionally managed accounts where you are the investment advisor, you can invest in the same types of assets used in their brokerage accounts. Buying and selling is done through the Schwab Advisor Center Trading tab.
Clients with core accounts can also give you privileges to allocate assets among Schwab Charitable investment pools. Here’s how you do this.
While in Schwab Advisor Center, go to More and select Schwab Charitable Center. If you weren’t already in the client account you want, you’ll need to find the account using the Search field or Browse link. Now select Rebalance Investments.
There are no trading fees for reallocations. Just make sure the total of all investment choices equals 100%.
With core accounts, note that underlying mutual fund research reports are available for the investment pools.
