The gift of time (Elizabeth)
Philanthropy is a part of who I am and I think it was part of who my husband was.
We decided in 1966 to be more serious about our philanthropic giving. And start a foundation.
We no longer have a private foundation. We're doing our charitable giving through a donor-advised fund at Schwab Charitable. And that's made a huge difference in our lives and we wish we had done it before.
I spent so much time running our own foundation. I had many letters to write. and, we had an administrator and we had to meet and, all the work with the taxes and so forth.
I mean it was just a lot of work—it was a business and I don't have a business anymore. Schwab Charitable has done it all for me.
Ever since we've been a part of Schwab Charitable, it's really so easy. I can't tell you how easy it is. I feel as if I now have some time to myself, which I really, really like. And I like the freedom that I have since I’ve been with Schwab Charitable.
I really feel that Schwab Charitable is extremely well run, and very organized. I'm very impressed with the professionalism.
It's just so right that we have made that change to Schwab Charitable.
I really wish I had known about it before now.
