- Charity Search is provided by GuideStar®, the largest online database of nonprofits in the U.S. We also encourage you to visit the websites of the following organizations in order to further your research. In addition to research on individual charities, each of these sites provides educational content.
- Charity Navigator
- Charity Navigator is an independent nonprofit providing numbers-driven charity evaluations. They assess the financial health of 5,300 of America's best-known charities and rate them on a scale of 0-4 stars. See why TIME Magazine called Charity Navigator "One of America's 50 Coolest Websites for 2006."
- National Charities Information Bureau
- The NCIB provides evaluations of approximately 400 national charities according to their Standards of Philanthropy. You can order a full report on one of the charities they evaluate and also obtain their free Wise Giving Guide.
- The American Institute of Philanthropy (AIP)
- AIP is a charity watchdog and service to help donors make informed giving decisions. Their site describes their method of grading charities. In addition, the site posts articles on topics relating to charitable giving. They mail a quarterly report to members.
- Council on Foundations - Community Foundation Locator
- Community foundations are nonprofit, publicly-supported philanthropic institutions that support many causes within a local community. This Web site provides a tool to help you locate foundations in a specific region.
