Administrative Fees

Schwab Charitable Fund offers very competitive administrative fees, which cover the expenses of operating a donor-advised fund account. These include donor services online and phone support, grants administration, account statements and communications.

Average Daily Value Annualized Administrative Fees
First $500,000 0.60% of assets1
Next $500,000 0.30% of assets
Next $1,500,000 0.20% of assets
Next $12.5 million 0.15% of assets
$15 million above 0.10% of assets

How the fees are charged: Accounts invested in the Fund's investment pools are assessed an annualized administrative fee of .60%, which is collected as part of the operating expenses of the investment pools. Fees for accounts of more than $500,000 that are invested in the Fund's investment pools will be reduced via a quarterly rebate payment to the account. Only accounts that are open at the time of the fee rebate will receive it. There is a $100 minimum for annual account fees, assessed on an annual basis (on or around July 31), less any administrative fees that have been collected during the year. For Professionally Managed Accounts, we assess the administrative fee quarterly, based on the account's average value for the preceding quarter.

Investment Fees

Investment fees vary depending on how an account is invested. For stocks and bonds, the fees are typically in the form of commissions when they are traded. For mutual funds, the fees are in the form of operating expenses charged by the fund provider.

Donor-advised accounts are invested in Schwab Charitable investment pools whose operating expenses vary with the underlying mutual funds. The fees are reflected in the value of each investment pool.

Professionally-managed accounts can be invested in a variety of investments whose fees structures and operating expenses will vary. In addition, negotiated investment fees are paid directly to the investment advisor.2

1. The minimum individual account administrative fee will be the greater of $100 or 0.60%.
2. In addition, professionally-managed accounts with less than $1 million also have an investment oversight fee of $250 per quarter.
