Though everyone at Schwab Charitable has helped make our success and growth possible, I want to acknowledge this month, in particular the Grants Team. In December we process nearly four times the normal monthly grant volume. Usually by mid-January things begin to return to normal and the team can catch its breath. Not this year. On January 12th an earthquake rocked Haiti, followed by an earthquake in Chile on February 27th. It was as if the team had completed a marathon only to discover they had an additional ten miles to run. Remarkably, the team jumped in with enthusiasm, recognizing that the work they do, if done quickly, could help in some small way relieve suffering. The Grants Team, supported by other teams at Schwab Charitable, stayed late to process the grants and ensure that funds were sent to deserving charities as quickly as possible. Grants Team Manager Megan Antoncich captured the mood in an email she shared with us all in the midst of this busy and rewarding time: "On a personal note, this may be the proudest I’ve ever felt about the work we do. I truly am grateful to be a part of it."
In addition to delivering the best service possible, whether it is processing grants or contributions or answering your questions, we are continually seeking to improve your online experience. We recognize how important it is that you receive the recognition or anonymity you desire for the grants you recommend as well as rapid processing. It is a pleasure to announce a number of enhancements to our offer in this issue, including our innovative Customized Grant Letterhead and improvements to your online granting experience.
Whether you have been with us since the fall of 1999 or are brand new to Schwab Charitable, we are delighted to be your partner in philanthropy.
Sincerely,

Kimberly Wright-Violich
